An application for a new 400-unit multifamily development at the Cavasson campus north of Loop 101 has been filed in pursuit of approval by the city of Scottsdale.

City documents show the development, called Grayhawk Residences at Cavasson, seeks a multifamily development on 18 acres at 7701 E. Legacy Boulevard. Developers first filed paperwork in June, followed by a revised submittal on Sept. 29.

On the same day, Cavasson filed initial paperwork for a second development case: a residential healthcare facility consisting of 230 minimal care units and 97 specialized care beds on a 11.2-acre site. The site is identified as the northeast corner of 76th Street and Cavasson.

Cavasson is a 136-acre mixed-use development owned by Nationwide Realty Investors — a business with ties to Scottsdale since 1982. When Nationwide first sought its mixed-use campus approval from Scottsdale in 2018, the company cited having 1,560 employees in Scottsdale and needed room for expansion. At the time, 364 of the 1,500 lived in Scottsdale as well.

As part of its initial phase, the 134-acre project currently underway includes a multistory office building donning the Nationwide Insurance name, a five-story hotel, a six-story parking structure, retail, restaurants and other infrastructure improvements.
